The Miracle (1959) Teresa (Carroll Baker), is a woman who leaves the convent to find one specific man. Teresa falls in love with Michael (Roger Moore) a dashing Englishman in the British army that is fighting Napoleon in Spain. She opts for leaving the cloister to find her love. Meanwhile, during her absence, a statue of the Virgin Mary comes to life and takes her place in the convent, hence the "miracle" of the title. Along her journey, Teresa meets and eventually marries a handsome gypsy (Vittorio Gassman) who comes to an unhappy end. Widowed and grieving, young Teresa next becomes enamored of a bullfighter (Gustavo Rojo) whose luck in the ring ends tragically one day. Song of the South (2 DVD set) Set in the years just after the Civil War, the story begins with young Johnny (Bobby Driscoll) being sent to live at the southern plantation of his grandmother (Lucile Watson) while his parents contemplate divorce. At first disconsolate, the boy is cheered up by African-American handyman Uncle Remus (James Baskett), who tells him many delightful fables concerning the clever trickster Br'er Rabbit, whose adventures are illustrated in cartoon form. Each story has a moral, which Johnny applies to the exigencies of his real life. Johnny's mother (Ruth Warrick) disapproves of Uncle Remus, and orders the boy never to visit the kindly old black man again. Uncle Remus packs his bags and leaves; while chasing after him, Johnny is injured by a bull. He recovers thanks to the friendly presence of Uncle Remus, and all is forgiven.

Feudin', Fussin' and A-Fightin' With an appalling lack of local talent in Rim Rock, it looks as though Big Bend is once again going to win the annual event. Into this melancholy situation walks travelling salesman Wilbur McMurtry (Donald O'Connor). When he proves to be very light on his feet, Wilbur is kidnapped by the townsfolk and ordered to run on behalf of Rim Rock -- with the understanding that if he loses, he really loses. Musical highlights include Donald O'Connor's duet with Penny Edwards (a western ingenue who seldom got a chance to demonstrate her dancing skills), a vocal contribution by the Sportsman Quartet of Jack Benny Show fame, and the byplay between Rimrock mayor Maribel Mathews and stableman Billy Caswell, played by Ma and Pa Kettle co-stars Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride.

Group Madness RARE AND FUNNY FILM: Mike Medavoy said "Group Madness is funnier than the movie (Yellowbeard)". When "Yellowbeard" was announced in pre-production filmmakers Michael Mileham and Phil Schuman were looking to make a behind the scenes film with a "hook". They got the "hook" and the biggest collection of wacky comics ever assembled since "Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World". The filmmakers negotiated unprecedented terms that allowed complete access to the stars anywhere anytime and first class accommodations with the stars. What happened was an amazing intimacy with the stars resulting in a remarkable film. The film contains an original song written and performed by Harry Nilsson. In the few showings of this film, great praise was given by some notable people.

Medusa's Child Rogers Henry, former head of the Defense Department's Medusa Project at Los Alamos, cons his estranged wife Vivian into transporting a "prototype" bomb to the Pentagon. Vivian accompanies the "prototype" bomb onto a Boeing 737 cargo flight, and once the jet is in the air, the count-down sequence is accidentally initiated. The crew discovers it is no prototype, but a working Medusa weapon capable of sending out an electro-magnetic pulse that would disrupt electronic communication across the continent. They also learn Rogers has synchronized the detonator with the frequency of Vivian's pacemaker, so that if she walks out of range the bomb will immediately go off.

Love in a Cold Climate (1980) The first British TV adaptation of Nancy Mitford's autobiographical trilogy Love in a Cold Climate took the form of a seven-part, seven-hour miniseries in 1980. Set in the 1930s, the story concerned a group of wealthy young ladies and their various and sundry interactions with eccentric (to say the least) relatives and amorous young men. Faultlessly faithful to the source, this series explored the real-life Mitford family's unfortunate associations with Fascists in general and Adolf Hitler in particular, a story element that was glossed over in the shorter 2001 TV remake. Originally broadcast by Thames Television, Love in a Cold Climate was seen in America courtesy of PBS. A 4 disc set

Sadat Louis Gossett Jr. was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat in this two-part made-for-TV biopic. With 4 hours at its disposal, Sadat is able to trace its protagonist from his formative years fighting against the British occupiers of his country. The second part of the film is devoted in great part to Sadat's peacemaking efforts, culminating with his tradition-breaking truce with Israel's Menachem Begin (Barry Morse) in 1978. Lionel Chetwynd's script tends to deal in sweeping generalizations and stock characters at times, but the performances of Gossett, Morse and John Rhys-Davies as Gamel Abdel Nassar fully flesh out the film's occasional superficialities. Syndicated as an Operation Prime Time special on October 31, 1983, Sadat was an unqualified hit--everywhere but Egypt, where the film was banned because of its actual and alleged distortions.
